Lisa Merkatz founded Lisa Merkatz Design in 2001 after spending more than a decade in the fashion industry. Positions held with Ralph Lauren and Kate Spade allowed her to develop a keen eye for color, texture, scale, and contrast—elements that continue to define her interiors today.

Known for creating highly personalized homes, Lisa approaches each project with fresh perspective, ensuring that no two spaces are ever alike. She believes great design should reflect not only how a home looks, but how it supports the lives of those who occupy it.

With a Master’s degree in Psychology, Lisa brings a thoughtful and collaborative approach to every project. By understanding her clients’ lifestyles, priorities, and aspirations, she creates environments that are both beautiful and deeply personal. Many of her clients return for multiple projects, building relationships that span years.

Inspired by travel, art, architecture, and fashion—particularly in her favorite city, Paris—Lisa continually draws upon the world around her to inform her work.

Lisa holds degrees from New York University, Parsons School of Design and Columbia University. She resides in Manhattan with her family and their dog, Mabel.
